The Disney Channels we couldn't get because of Directv's dispute with them

I just chatted with customer service asking about credit we all should automatically get on our bill for the days we did not get all the Disney owned channels because of their contract dispute with them.  They said I missed the DEADLINE to receive the $30 credit. I just got back from Ohio taking care of my mother having bladder cancer surgery.  I was a little busy. Customer service talked to her manager and I just got $10 off of one month statement and I think I just saw where I am getting an increase of $9!  Really big of you Directv! It is not our fault you had issues with Disney. Very poor on your part and I am very disappointed in the way you handled this!

Hi, @brendatracy. We're sorry you feel this way. Unfortunately, the costs of distributing programming, for TV providers and streaming platforms, continue to rise as networks and leagues push for higher fees from consumers and businesses to enjoy the same shows, sports, and movies. Thank you for sticking with is throughout this negotiation. Jonathan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

First of all no credit was obligated for anybody. Terms of Service do include that programming may change at any time. It is not automatic as not everyone cares about Disney at all, or at least that much. So by making it a redeemable credit it only goes out to those it matters. No point in them giving it to everybody wasting that money as a business. Not saying you have to like it, just showing a realistic perspective of the situation.

Disney held their channels away to use us customers as leverage for the carriage negotiation that came up. Since people lose their minds over football, Disney saw this as their chance to get more.

The price adjustment's timing is very rough. Normally those take into account previous negotiations that had completed. So Disney shouldn't be factored into this one but the next (unless something really crazy happened). Since the timing changed both this year and last (as used to be in January), I think they were moving the adjustment to a better time of year (instead of start of tax season and right after some go overboard during the holidays) so was already set in motion before Disney pulled away.

At least adjustment is still only once a year and Disney should be a multi-year deal. Just wondering what TV provider is next in line to fight the House of Mouse. Just make sure to let Disney know you are disappointed with them as well.

@Ludwick577

Good catch, I saw helping mother out (complete respect as going through an unpleasant situation for my own) but I didn't focus in back from Ohio (so out-of-state).

Perhaps scheduled recordings or those still at home watching would factor in. For future no matter what life throws at you, check www.directvpromise.com when there is a carriage negotiation like this for further info or any possible credit while it is active.
