This is not a good streaming service…

Does anyone else have issues with this being a pretty bad service? Since the latest update (which I didn’t think the service could get any worse!) now my Direct Stream takes about 8 tries to load. Keeps cutting out.

It’s always been a challenge to get to the recorded library, functions don’t work/accept menus choices on the first try. When watching back a recorded show, 25% of the time, the show starts in the middle or end of the recording, this stinks. Lots of times the sound/video doesn’t line up while watching, the only solution I’ve found is to pause for some time and hope to go back & hopefully it has caught up. There have been more issues, but overall- not worth the money I pay monthly. Would love to find a better, more reliable streaming service. I would expect more from a giant like ATT :(

What streaming device(s)?

What's your internet download speed at the streaming device?

Your issue sounds like internet bandwidth problems.

I have ATT’s fastest internet package via fiber optic. They had just recently come out to give me a new/updated modem & I also have a booster. So went ATT streaming service (Directv Stream) doesn’t work with ATT internet, that’s issue one. But I have more issues with the system just not being user friendly and the functions having issues. I know I’m the fool for paying & keeping it vs switching.

That's good to know. What's important is the actual download at your streaming device. What streaming device are you using? Is it connected via WiFi or direct Ethernet to your home router.  Ethernet is the fastest method.

My tvs connect via Wi-Fi. Although maybe not as strong of a connection as directly through a cable … I have no problems with Netflix, Hulu, Disney, Prime, AppleTV, Paramount, Peacock, etc and all of the other services seem to be more user friendly. Easier to access listings, better at fast forwarding capabilities, easier to navigate. I also don’t think that bc of my connection, it causes recorded shows on Directv Stream to start midway/or at the end of a recording. That is hugely frustrating.

What streaming device or software are you using?

If ATT changed the modem and stuff at home, I'd suggest as well to take a look at that. Sometimes residential gateways need firmware/software updates etc. It would be worthwhile as well to do ethernet vs. WiFi checks. Which device is this one?

@LaurenLFlores additional suggestion - if you have multiple devices, do you see the same thing across all? This might give you another clue if this is a device-specific issue. Depending on the one you're using, be aware that there are low-end devices, Roku or FireTV, for example, that don't perform well.

OP was asked twice--which streaming device they are using. Never answered.

My tvs connect via Wi-Fi.

Based on that, perhaps a 'smart' TV app and not a connected streaming box?
