Unable to Watch Bally Sports Channels

I'm having the same problem, did anyone ever get a resolution on this?  I worked with a Directv rep over the phone for over an hour and they couldn't get it to work.  ALl the while, it worked fine via a browser on my laptop and also on a Roku in the house.  The Apple TV just kept coming up with an "info" page that did nothing when clicking on any of the items.  May 20 2023.

I believe this happens because you’re trying to watch a Bally channel that is not “set” as your home region or your home region is set incorrectly. So as an example, if you’re in Ohio trying to watch Bally Ohio via the Apple TV app and it’s not letting you and only giving you an info page, it means your region is set incorrectly to another Bally RSN which would need to be fixed on the DirectTV end

By that logic, wouldn't the laptop and Roku not work as well though?  Currently, I only have the issue with my Apple TV connected to the same WiFi network (same as the Roku and the Laptop) and with location services enabled for the DirecTV Stream app.  The technician had me uninstall the app on the ATV and also logout and login multiple times when he did something on his end.  All the while I am able to watch continuously on my laptop on the same network.  This is all at home so no location has changed for me from my "home location/region".

I was just saying that the region issue happened to me as a family member accidentally started watching before I could in a different region than I’m in. Started watching Bally Sports Midwest while I am in the Bally Sports Ohio area so the Midwest got set as the RSN region and I couldn’t watch Ohio. It’s really an odd issue and very clunky.

I very much appreciate it!  And I think your resolution is correct. I think in the end, there isn't really anything we can do on our end if this comes up besides reach out to DTV to handle it.  I think you are right in resetting on the "back end" but it seems that the tech did that for me a few times and it still would not work.  In the end, I still cannot view any of the Bally sports channels on the Apple TV app and they all come up as that "info" page as the OP stated.  My hope was that someone had a "trick" that resolved it without DTV intervening but I think that is our only hope for this issue.  Thanks again.

Yeah I was the OP and ended up just cancelling my account as I was still in the trial period. Try logging into the Bally app on the apple tv with your DTV credentials and see what happens. Probably will be able to watch there but I know having it all in the same place is kinda the point to DTV Stream.

Currently a user on a different DTV stream account. So stayed with DTV but just cancelled MY account.

@bigredman I've noticed sometimes in the guide, on Bally Sports Channel--the highlighted show is behind time a little. So, when you click on a program in the guide it will give the restart option---or info screen b/c the show is already over. Not sure if that is the problem with you but make sure of the time of the program you want to watch in the guide. 

AppleTV, unlike the other commodity streamers, generally has accurate location data which DTV at one time used.  Apple uses iPhone GPS locations to build a database of wireless access point locations (APs that the iPhone "sees", apparently whether it connects to them or not) and uses that to provide a location for the AppleTV connected to that AP.  So the AppleTV can't be "set", since it knows where it is.  Is your location close to the edge of a Bally region, specifically between Ohio and Midwest?

Since I haven't really found an answer to this question I wanna add what I have found. Direct tv needs to fix this issue asap as baseball has started back up. 

If I attempt to watch Bally on a mobile device or firestick I get the only choice of restart. I also have a direct tv streaming box that I purchased and I can watch the Braves fine. 

I just canceled xfinity because I was told direct tv stream was the way to go to watch my ballys sports north. Well I'm signed up for choice package and on my free trial right now. I cannot watch any ballys on direct tv stream at all which is on my firestick. It says to view I need a desktop box. Are you serious? Please help, I'm connected to my home network and on my home tv.

I cancelled directv as I really just wanted it for sports and mostly the Braves. I receive an mlb subscription via my T-Mobile cell account for free. Since I live in Georgia, it’s blacked out due to them being (Edited per community guidelines) and giving the rights only to Bally in my area. I have to use “Unlocator’s Smart DNS” for a small yearly fee which allows me to watch all the Braves games I want and a few other streaming options as well. Take that, ballys and mlb. Get it together!
