Where Should You Put Your DIRECTV STREAM Box

It is up to you to decide where to place your DIRECTV STREAM Box. Because the DIRECTV STREAM Box uses Wi-Fi to connect you to the world, making sure you have the best Wi-Fi signal is important. We recommend Keeping your Wi-Fi box:

  • at least 3 feet away from electronics
  • away from speaker systems
  • on a hard, elevated surface
  • off carpet
  • In a well-ventilated area

Why is all this important?

Electronics can interfere with your Wi-Fi signal. Too many electronics around your DIRECTV STREAM Box, even your modem, interference with the Wi-Fi signal and in turn, affect your overall streaming experience.

Soft surfaces can create static electricity. Ever rub a balloon on your hair? Or rub your feet on carpet? That creates static electricity which can affect not only the DIRECTV STREAM Box, bust most electronics like your PlayStation or computer. That is why placing any electronic device you have on an elevated, hard surface.

Heat. Ever wear a jacket on a hot day? It is not too comfortable. If you place any electronics in a cupboard or poor ventilated area will cause them to overheat and over time, fail. So, your AT&T Box should be placed in a well-ventilated area.

Isn't the TV itself  "electronic"?  How do you keep it at least 3 feet away from the TV when the HDMI cord is only about 3 feet?  I just installed mine and lost the signal until I moved it and reset it.

My DirecTV Stream boxes sit right next to their TVs. No issues.  Glad you got yours working.
