Wrong local channels

have had the service for about a year and the area I am in should have the St. Louis market for the local channels. For some reason, when we got up yesterday, we now have the Paducah Ky local channels! I spent several phone calls and about three hours on the phone with various folks and they really have no idea what changed. I have even done a hard reset on one of the AT&T boxes with no help. All the boxes in the house are AT&T ‎C71KW-400. The account shows the correct zip code,. This problem not only shows up in the house boxes but on the Direct Tv Streaming app on my phone. Again this all happened over night and there were no changes made by us.  Configuration: ATT&T fiber internet, ATT C71KW-400 , ATT cell phone carrier as of March 3rd (another nightmare, should have stayed with Verizon for cell service).

Any ideas on who can fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

That explains the guy yesterday from Farmington, MO. @Michael63640  and many others. I'm close to the border of 2 markets myself I'm glad they didn't change mine to the incorrent ones.

Why they don't inform subscribers is a mystery to me. In the old system they had a scrolling banner message at the top of the page to broadcast changes. If this was a known change they could at least post a thread on the changes.

I wonder why they just don't rely on billing zip code on the Dtv Stream box. They don't do IP on firestick, roku, apple tv.

Just to keep everyone on the same page, I had a few extra minutes, so I factory reset one of the boxes, and used my cell as a hotspot for the internet connection instead of the home network. No difference, still had the wrong local channels. So that would seem to remove the ISP IP address since I doubt the local cell tower is also in the wrong area!

Sounds like they have broken something and now they can't figure it out. 

They wanted me to wait 24 hours while they "resynced the account" but we are now at 28 hours and it is still FUBAR.

They posted about this issue earlier. It's up above. You aren't the only one it is a lot of people. Looks like they messed up some people bordering on 2 markets

"Recently, local channels from some county borders were redistributed. In order for us to check if you've been affected by this, please share your zipcode, so we can take a better look."

They do rely on IP address. That's where the geolocation services come in. They do the polling and report finds to DirectV Stream who then maps the locals based on the IP report. The issue is those reports are not highly accurate. Thus these wrong locals issues.

They don't. The geolocation does it. We don't know how often this is done. DirecTV Stream just does the local mappings based on the reports. Lots of behind the scenes activity.

Hello, @Michael63640 . I appreciate your patience. After checking in our system, I've found that an outage related to local channels change has been reported. DIRECTV STREAM customers' local channels may have changed due to a recent realignment. So, the local channels they are now receiving will be their locals going forward and cannot be changed back. We apologize for all the inconveniences it may cause.

We had the same issue for years. We should have gotten Albany locals but got Binghamton. We called DirecTV to try to straighten it out but we were told the FCC determines locals by counties and that DirecTV has nothing to do with it.

And to add to it, two other towns, one three miles away and the other about the same both get Albany locals. We are all in three different counties.

I'm having the same problem with local channels.  My city has four different counties. the county I live in is not the local channels I want to see but the county which is about 2 miles from me has the right lineup.  If I could just change my county that would solve my problem, I think.  Can anyone tell me how to change my county?

I'm receiving the wrong local channels from what I want but the ones I receive do go along with what the link you shared says.  If I could figure out how to change my county I would be good.
