a mac man with no pictures

I am using a mac book at this time Intel 1core in snow leopard and eye connect 1.6.7 My direct tv dvr is model hr24nc. every thing is set up ok, the mac sees the dvr and and media share sees my mac. music mp3's play fine, cant play movies as they are .avi which i can convert to mp2s if needed. the problem is the photos. the dvr sees the folder and the pics when i click play, it shows one slide, then goes black. i looked at the counter and it is advancing but only the one picture, then black. Called tech support and they were baffled. tired reset, no change.  on demand works fine also with my wireless net work, airport extreme as base and express as a slave hooked up to the dvr. Any help will be appreciated. I have read the treads but their receivers are older than mine.
