AMC HD Surround Sound is not right
Is it just me or is the surround sound off (ie, weird) on AMC HD ch 254? The majority of the sound seems to go to my front left speaker..including all the main dialog that should go to the center channel. This is the only channel that is doing this from what I've found so far. It was driving me nuts while watching The Walking Dead. I thought it was just the show so I switch over to the live feed of AMC HD (I recorded The Walking Dead) and it was doing it there as well.

Try turning the Dolby setting in the HR22 to "off". On occasion a station engineer will feed a stereo signal to the Dolby link and the result is a 2 channel Dolby signal in your receiver. This is fairly uncommon but not rare as it does happen from time to time.

I called into tech support and escalated my issue to their engineers. I haven't heard anything back but I'm watching last Sunday's The Walking Dead and everything is fine now. Looks like they were able to fix the issue on their end.

It's on certain programs; older specifically it seems. First of all this channel skips every 2 seconds. A nice stutter, jutter, or whatever you want to call it.
I get the EXACT same audio problem though. Many programs on AMC will use only the front left speaker (but all of the audio is going to that speaker, not only what the left speaker would usually get) when using 5.1. Its driving me nuts too. It sound like absolute garbage.
Hopefully this is fixed quickly.

I posted (#2) the workaround. On older programs the improper feed is built into the recording and there will be no "fix". By the way, the folks at AMC created this and Directv simply takes whatever they feed them and send it along to you.

Like I said...it seems to be fixed on my end at least since I had called it in. But I think this is more of a DirecTv issue than AMC. Two of my friends don't have this issue at all and one has Brighthouse cable (Central Florida) and the other has FiOS. But anyway...like I said. I'm good now.
