Any way to turn off the wi-fi off on my Genie?
Is there a way I can turn the wi-fi off on my new Genie if I am not streaming?

By "turning off WiFi", do you mean disconnecting your Genie from the internet? You'll need to repeat the Genie Network Setup process and remove your WiFi network there. But why do you want to do this?

Because I have limited Wi-Fi and it's using my data even if I'm not streaming. I'm new to streaming so I have only tried just to see if I could actually stream with my poor internet.

I guess I need to remove my Wi-Fi settings until I decide to stream and then reset my Wi-Fi settings. It just should be easier. There are many of us that have limited Wi-Fi and we only want it on when we want to stream.

I just had a Genie installed. I thought it would only use the Wi-Fi when I was streaming but it seems to be using Wi-Fi all the time. We have poor internet and I was surprised it even connected. I need to be able to remove my password so I can connect it only when I can possibly stream.

If I'm just watching a show on regular Directv why is it using my Wi-Fi?

WiFi is used to connect to the internet for On Demand, start from the beginning and paying for PPV with the remote as such there is a lot of data usage when first connected to download the On Demand guide and then there is back round data usage to maintain it.

If you are watching a satellite channel, it’s not using WiFi. However, the genie could be using WiFi at anytime to download on demand programming updates.
