Have you tried a red button reset of the receiver? This is on the front where it says ‘Press’ or the right side by the access card for the HR54 series. Also, what is your receiver model?
Yes, I have done a complete reset. Including hard reset. Including the swim. I had a rep
on the chat a we did all the above. I tried again today. When the tv comes on for a brief 2 seconds I get the channel at the top of the screen. Then it goes black and the audio begins that on for a few seconds then break and on again.
@Rosman54 any error codes? And does it happen on multiple receivers if you have more than one? Can you try tuning to the SD version of a channel to see if it occurs on that?
As a side note, you can try a different HDMI cable or HDMI input (like HDMI2 or HDMI3) to break down possible solutions.
Sounds more like a TV issue than an actual DIRECTV issue since the TV itself glitches while the box works normally. This would gear toward an HDMI issue or TV setting issue. Are you able to get into the TV menu itself to change HDMI settings? (not DIRECTV menu)
Thank you for suggestions that I will try. question for you. About 2 yrs ago I changed the coax cable to the LNB when I had video problems. Could that possibly be another thing to look at?
@Rosman54 absolutely, especially if the cable being used currently is not RG6 Quad Shield cable. Also, any coax barrel connectors from the LNB to splitter could cause issues. If you replaced the coax cable, I'm sure you likely had to use a coax barrel connector to fix a certain area of the wiring. It also helps to check for corrosion in the coax connection.
You can, in the meantime, try seeing if you can get the Signal Strength on satellites 101, 99 (ca), 99 (cb), 103 (ca), and 103 (cb). They should be 90 and above and it is more than normal to see a few readings with 0.

also, do you get an error code like 771 or 775?
