We'd love to help clear up any confusion, @PatPPL.
If the Avalanche games are going to be carried on a network we provide and you subscribe to in your package, then you will be able to view them, unless they are being blacked out on that channel.
You can use our Sports Schedule tool to find the available time and channel for any sports games being aired.

Just went onto my DirecTV receiver in my home. Find that the Avalanche games for September 17 and 19 are scheduled on Colorado channel 681 are showing 7PM. The September 17 game is showing as a recording at 11:30PM on game day and again at 10:30AM the next day. The September 19 game shows as a recording at 11:30PM on the game day and again at 10:30AM the next day. These are both pre-season games.
The REGULAR season game, which I find only on the Avalanche schedule is the October 4 one showing as available on ALT. All later ones do NOT show any ALT available!
