Black screen several times an hour

I have directv and an HR44 receiver.  Several times an hour, it goes black, I see the blue logo spinning and then it goes back to normal. The weird thing is that it happens around the same times every hour.  This has gone on for three days.

I'm connected to a Denon receiver in another room and use baluns to send video over Cat5E to the TV.

Everything works great 95% of the time but the issue won't go away.  Does that sound like a DTV problem or a Balun problem???

End up being a balun problem.  Either the balun was bad or didn't reach far enough to be consistent. It was 30M.  I wen't and bought a 70M and it works perfect. Thanks for the help.  Funny, though, at first I thought that DTV box was bad so they sent me a "new" one......made in 2013.  The one I thought was bad was made in 2015.  smh

Hello @Steeler4022, we always want our customers service to work at peak performance.

Have you tried resetting the receiver and/or unplugging and plugging back in? You can check more troubleshooting options with blue, black or gray screen here.

You can find additional troubleshooting steps that could be useful too for this situation here.

Let me know if this works.

What "blue logo"?

It doesn't say AT&T.  I guess "Logo" might not be the proper wording.  It's a Blue circle spinning clockwise n the middle of the screen. The circle is a bunch of small blue dots that form a circle.  It stays in the middle of the screen and is not a screen saver.

I'm wondering if the receiver is sending something that the baluns don't like because it happens at around the same times every hour.

I've tried everything as I read all the different "fixes" in this forum before signing up and asking the question.  Changing the HDMI port from ARC to non arc, changing the resolution settings, powering Direct TV off for an hour while I was gone, pushing the red button to reset, on and on. Tried everything.  I have an HR44.  Would a HR54 fix my problem?  What is better about HR54>

Also, this is the main box that powers the living room. I have a gene mini in my bedroom that never has any problems, so wouldn't that rule the Satellite dish out? It's got to be either a bad receiver or baluns going bad. But if Balun are bad, why would it work perfectly 58 minutes of every hour?

The Baluns are Binary B-360-1CAT-30.

One last thing:  sometimes it goes black, the circle spins for a few seconds, then it goes to the grey screen where the Samsung TV  says in writing that it "can't find source" and then it goes back to normal.

I guess one more possibility could be that the CAT5E line in the walls is messed up?

I think that "logo" is your TV's way of telling you that it's having trouble locking onto the video signal. Almost certainly the issue is with your video distribution setup. Can you temporarily hookup directly to the TV via HDMI cable as a test?

That's what I tried to do this morning.  So DirecTV put my video bridge upstairs and it looks like it's connect to 2 coax cables that I imagine run to the video cabinet.  When I disconnected it from the cabinet and moved it into the TVr room and tried to connect directly to the TV it started  I got a 775 error.  I went upstairs and the video bridge was blinking yellow.  I'm guessing the box was too far from the bridge to be detected.  I think you are right that I have a balun issue.  Called DTV and they are going to come out tomorrow morning with a new box, and HR54.  So if it still has the issue it's most surely a problem with the Balun's (HDMI extender.)

The craziest thing is that it does it on a schedule.  It goes black for the longest period of time every hour around 45 after the hour, then a shorter time at 55 after, then again around 15 after and 30 after.  Is that some kind of HDCP handshake or something?
