Blacked out Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Games

I moved to Arizona 27 years ago and purchased DIRECTVMLB ticket . 27 years I’ve been able to watch the Philadelphia Phillies no matter who they played or where they were playing .I either got the Home feed or away  feed . But this year for the first time ever I have not been able to watch any Philadelphia Phillies games . Every game so far this season has been blacked out . They played New York in Philadelphia and I did not get to see any of the games, they played Miami in Florida and I did not get to see any of the games and now they’re playing Colorado which is fairly close to me and I don’t get to see any of the games.  I live in Arizona there’s no reason for these games to be blacked out . Is anyone else that lives out here experiencing these issues? I have contacted DIRECTV eight times in the last two weeks and no one there can figure it out either I am about ready to cancel everything!

Hello @notthis , thank you for making us aware of what you're experiencing.

Sports blackouts and game availability aren't controlled by DIRECTV. The leagues, associations, and networks buy rights to broadcast certain games and control the broadcast availability.

Find more info about black outs here:
https://direc.tv/3v2CAA0

We'll be here for you if further assistance is needed.

Hello bluesmom13 - I am in Phoenix and experiencing the exact same thing with Phillies blackouts. I've been with DIRECTV for years and have never experienced this problem. I called DIRECTV and was on the phone for hours and just keep getting same stock answer as Juan posted "Sports blackouts and game availability aren't controlled by DIRECTV. The leagues, associations, and networks buy rights to broadcast certain games and control the broadcast availability."

I totally know all of this. The problem is that unless I am completed unaware of a change in blackout rules, whereby someone on Arizona would be blocked by a Philadelphia game, there is some sort of error occurring. Unfortunately, DIRECTV refuses to take any responsibility and I'm left without being able to watch games I'm paying for.

Hello, @WilliamTerrill We know you want to enjoy the best of the season.

We offer a huge variety of content and games for sporting events. When it comes to individual games, those are controlled by the leagues, associations and networks that purchase the rights to broadcast them. More info here

Sometimes a blacked out game can be available in another channel. With the "GameSearch" function on our last receivers, if you tune to a game that's blacked out, the receiver will search for the same game on another channel. If it's found, you'll have the option to tune that channel.

Hi David,

Yes, as I noted in my post, I've heard the stock DIRECTV response many times now and I am totally aware. Yet, the Phillies games to my knowledge are NOT being blacked out by "the leagues, associations, and networks that purchase the right to broadcast them." There is an error/mistake occurring. Instead of repeating the same stock answer, perhaps someone at DIRECTV can actually attempt to fix the problem?

Hi David, can you clarify where I go to Direct Message with you?

I don't see a chat icon at the top of the page here?

Hi William,

I have called eight times in the last two weeks and told them this is an error in their programming. Very strange that Philadelphia and ( whoever they are playing , no matter where they are playing) is the only team that is blacked out. The

last couple of times I called I spoke with representatives in Montana and they could watch the Phillies games. The last time I called  I was told that my issues have been escalated to the appropriate area?

Hi bluesmom13, they told me the same thing as to escalating, so we'll see if they are able to fix the error. It's only the Phillies with me as well being blacked out. It's been so frustrating. I sent the Phillies an email the other day as well to see if there is something we're missing.

Hi William,

That is a very good idea. I will send them an email as well.

I work at a business in Colorado and for two weeks have been trying to get DirecTV to correct this mistake. It's been absolutely maddening as they insist time and time again that it is not their fault.

Today, finally, two weeks into the season, I was told that they've finally discovered what the problem is. However, the issue won't be fixed in time for tonight's Brewers-Phillies game. So yet another game will be incorrectly blacked out.

But I've been told tomorrow's Brewers-Phillies game should be available. We'll see.

Hi Mike, can you share what they said the problem is?

Hi William. They wouldn't tell me, which makes it clear it was on their end. It's just astonishing that it takes two weeks of constant contacts by customers before they even decide to look into the issue. The season started April 7 and they didn't acknowledge until April 22 that it was a problem at all. And it won't be fixed until April 23 at the earliest. Anyone who has paid for this package should demand compensation for the error.
