Blacked out Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Games

I moved to Arizona 27 years ago and purchased DIRECTVMLB ticket . 27 years I’ve been able to watch the Philadelphia Phillies no matter who they played or where they were playing .I either got the Home feed or away  feed . But this year for the first time ever I have not been able to watch any Philadelphia Phillies games . Every game so far this season has been blacked out . They played New York in Philadelphia and I did not get to see any of the games, they played Miami in Florida and I did not get to see any of the games and now they’re playing Colorado which is fairly close to me and I don’t get to see any of the games.  I live in Arizona there’s no reason for these games to be blacked out . Is anyone else that lives out here experiencing these issues? I have contacted DIRECTV eight times in the last two weeks and no one there can figure it out either I am about ready to cancel everything!

Yeah I’m actually glad I found these forums by googling the issue.

Mike C - is your business a bar or something anywhere near Denver?

And by the way - no thanks at all to DirecTV.  I have been a 25+ year customer but am absolutely planning to move on shortly.  Not only because of this - customer service has turned into a complete joke.  This issue, as well as the lack of response over the past month, has shown me I can pretty much stream everything I need.   Thanks again to all who helped with this!

Hi Mike. We're a sportsbook at Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk. So not getting games is a big, big problem for us. Been a very maddening two-plus weeks. At least it's finally resolved now.

I'm finally picking up the game here in Phoenix as well. What a frustrating couple of weeks. Calls, more calls, more explaining over and over again, only to be given stock answers and repeated instructions to reboot (to no avail) and then being told its not Direct TV's fault. Can some from Direct TV please post on this forum exactly what the problem was? And then how it was corrected for today's game? We need to know for future problems so they can be resolved without needing to wait for several weeks. Thank you.

Hello @WilliamTerrill, we are happy to know that the game is working now.

After thoroughly investigating, we could confirm that it was an outage. Our team worked hard to resolve the issue as quick as possible and thanks to their efforts, the problem has been now fixed.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

Hailey,

Once again, it wasn't an outage. It was some sort of coding error that blacked out the Phillies in certain parts of the country that shouldn't have been blacked out. The RSNs were available before and after the games. So again, it's not an outage. I think I speak for the others in this forum in that we were told so much incorrect information over the past two weeks that if we knew what the mistake you made was, it wouldn't take two weeks worth of calls and chats to fix the problem the next time you make the same error.

Mike is completely correct. It was NOT an "outage" as the channels were available both prior to and after the games. The Phillies games were being blacked out due to some sort of error. Can DirecTV (Hailey or someone from DirecTV) please be upfront and correctly inform us customers what the error was? PLEASE!

@WilliamTerrill, we understand the importance to have the right information for future references.

The issue that was presented with that game was confirmed as a known outage on our side. Therefore, our specialized team took actions into this matter to resolve it ASAP. Today we received an update confirming that the issue was cleared up and customers can now enjoy the game.

We sincerely apologize for the situation experienced.

Hailey,

So just to be clear the following channels all experienced outages on all of these days?

April 8 - NBC Sports California and MLB Extra Innings channels

April 9 - NBC Sports California and MLB Extra Innings channels.

April 10 - NBC Sports California and MLB Extra Innings channels.

April 11 - (no issue here because the Mets-Phillies was on FS1)

April 12 - (no issue here because Mets-Phillies was on MLB Network)

April 13 - Not sure about this day as I was off from my job but likely SNY and MLB EI

April 14 - Bally Sports Florida and MLB Extra Innings

April 15 - Bally Sports Florida and MLB Extra Innings

April 16 - Bally Sports Florida and MLB Extra Innings

April 17 - Bally Sports Florida and MLB Extra Innings

April 18 - We were able to get Phillies-Rockies, because it was on the home RSN, but as you'll see in this thread it wasn't available in Arizona and other areas on AT&T Sports Network Rocky Mountain and MLB Extra Innings. (This obviously also destroys the "outage" explanation as ATTSRM was working fine.)

April 19 - See above

April 20 - See above

April 22 - Bally Sports Wisconsin and MLB Extra Innings

All of these games were unavailable, not a single "game" as you mentioned. I know writing the same thing again is futile, but you need to stop posting false information on this board.

As noted by Mike as well as myself several times now, it was not an outage. Why do you continue to lie stating it "was confirmed as a known outage?" It was NOT. Perhaps Direct TV representatives can best represent the company by not repeatedly lying?

Really, for goodness sake directv, it was not a flipping outage!! Stop writing that!!!! Do you understand that by repeating this nonsense all you do is infuriate people?! Read the thread!!!

You had a *technical* problem. We just want to know what that problem was so that if it happens again we can zero in on the solution. Please stop with your nonsense replies. Is there a Supervisor or Manager that monitors this?

Hello @mikehrin66 , we put our effort to educate our customers with the right information.

When you're trying to watch a sporting event scheduled in local channels such as NBC Sports or Bally Sports, the broadcast is controlled by the leagues and associations that purchase its rights.

If you get the MLB Extra Innings, you're having access to out of market games, and you'll find your available content on channels 721-749. Any game broadcasted out of those channels will be tied to blackout restrictions.

Your reports are so important,
without your help we could not get to the bottom of this. We appreciate all of you in this thread for you high patience and efforts to find a resolution.
