Cannot Download DVR recordings

the old DTV app, IIRC allowed me to download and view recordings in my IOS device, a new device I downloaded the DTV app but it appears to be different and I do not see a download option any longer, am I missing anything?

Yes. The new all-in-one ‘DIRECTV’ app prevents you from viewing recordings due to an unknown bug. We aren’t sure when this will be fixed. I’m sure your older device has the app ‘DIRECTV on the Go.’ KEEP that app, you can’t re-download it again because it was removed from the App Store.

This is what we believe to be a bug in the new combined DTV sat DTV streaming app.

OK thank you, unfortunately, I do not have the OLD APP :( I'll have to check with the Wife's IPAD and see if she still has it. We're planning a trip next summer and would love to have some of our recordings to keep the grand-kids busy during the trip

I was thinking of switching from DIRECTV to Directv streaming. Does this mean that if I do that I will not be able to download shows? That is a deal breaker.

Me too, since we just got 100mb fiber at home, we've been streaming almost all of our viewing content, the wife is afraid of loosing here Soaps, but I think there's many options and services for live TV or on demand. switching, from what I heard is not so easy, you need to cancel your DTV service, then start a new DTV streaming service since, apparently they are 2 different entities and cannot just switch you over, if I'm wrong, please someone let me know

You cannot download DirecTV Stream's cloud DVR recordings. But you can view those recordings just about anywhere you have internet access using a mobile device, Roku, FireStick, PC, etc.

Thanks. However, that does not solve the problem. I need to be able to watch, like I can with my current Directv, when there is no internet service. I guess streaming is not for me. I’ll need another option to DIRECTV when the old app goes away.

I myself was NOT talking about the DTV stream DVR from the cloud or whatever it's called, my initial question was about my recordings on MY DVR, if this option will be available again, then I'd just like to be notified when, thank you

DTV satellite and DTV streaming are separate services you can have both at the same time.  DTV satellite only allows streaming to mobile devices like phones/tablets while on your home network and when the app gets fix you will be able to download programs to them for viewing outside of your home network.

If you want both at the same time you’ll need two different email addresses since DIRECTV satellite subscribers cannot use that email address to sign up for stream.

I understand that, that is very clear, and why anyone would pay for both is beyond me, maybe I'm missing something

what's troublesome is AFAIK both 'services' are AT&T products, yes?  - so why can't I just call DTV customer service and switch from Sat to streaming, it seems as if it's being made confusing and cumbersome purposely and not value added to the customer.

all that aside does anyone have an estimated date for the DTV Sat app to be fixed so I can download DVR content?

if you're directing you comments to me, I don't want both, my original question was about the DTV APP and why I cannot download my DVR content to my IPAD APP any longer, why anyone would want both Sat and stream is beyond me, I want to get ride of the Sat since I now have fiber coming to my home and can stream all content and of course, streaming is cheaper

not what I understand, maybe it changed?

depending on what you want...

Get the CHOICE™ Package for 69 a month for 2 months and 89 after

my current package for the Geni and 3 mini's is 155 a month so I'd save since I don't need my current Sat package or my gini mini's

If you get rid of DTV sat then you won't be able to use the DTV app to download anything from the DVR that will be returned to DTV.
