Channels not coming through

Upon scrolling through the channels, some of them come through, but delayed about 15 seconds.  Others, come through with only sound, while others not at all.  You can get the channel by turning the box off and then on again.  The satellite box was a non-Genie (an old one from the days before AT&T took over)  model number with HR24-500.  It crapped out two weeks ago and AT&T finally sent a new one.  The only thing its an HR24-100 and in order for the Technician to get the dish to work with it, he had to apply for a waiver.  Is there some way around this?

The only difference between the two is who made it and they are made to the same specs.  Don't know why a tech would be needed to unscrew the coax from the old and screwed onto the new one or why any waiver is needed, if the tech can't reach the dish without leaving the ladder they can install a new dish where it can be serviced.

The reason I had the tech out is when they sent the new box and I had no problem in hooking it up.  It was when I entered the code and the system started configuring.  That’s when all kinds of error codes came on.  It did not give me the option of a waiver.  That’s why the tech was needed.  The dish is easy to get to, but he found nothing wrong with it.  I’ve been with DIRECTV since 2003 and have never had this kind of trouble with them.  You are right it should not be the box.  I’m going to try replacing the HDMI cable and a different HDMI port on the TV.
