channels pixelized or says signal loss.
I called a couple of weeks ago about this problem. They sent a repair man. He was really condescending. He looked at where the dish was and said that's your problem and pointed to a tree 15-20 away as well as 2 trees in my front yard (that have been there the entire time I've had the service) Then he told me I needed to upgrade to HD service, that I had the old dish and they were going to be doing away with those. That if I didn't upgrade there was nothing he could do.[He was here for approx. 8-10 min.] he then walked away. My service improved for a couple of weeks. But has now started going in and out even worse than the first time. My question is it because I have the old receiver and dish? Or are they switching everything to HD and my reg. service is no longer supported? All I want is simple tv. I don't need to or want to be able to record tv. I can't seem to get any help. When I call they start with have your reset your receiver. Yes, and it does no good. Last time it reset but only from channel 70 up none of the lower channels were available. Seriously considering going to Spectrum.

What is the model of your receiver? Do you have only one TV or multiple? Also, if you do happen to have the old 18 inch SD-only dish, they are doing away with all MPEG2/SD feeds. Most likely, your dish isn’t aimed properly and needs to be realigned. However, since you need an upgrade anyway, call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and ask for the free SD swap. Be sure to ask if you can receive the H24 or H25 receiver in exchange for your SD receiver since those two receivers don’t record. They are simply just HD receivers. Therefore, you won’t pay extra for DVR fees and Whole Home DVR fees. (Genie requires WH DVR)
If there are trees in the way of the signal, there is not much DIRECTV can do about it. To check, download the Satellite Pointer application on your mobile phone. Launch it, go outside to where your dish is, point the phone toward the Southern sky, and see if Satellite 99.2W, 101.0W, or 102.8W is blocked by a tree. Each satellite will be marked by a red circle in the app. If it is blocked, you may not be able to receive that satellite. In this case, the technician should find a different place for the dish or consider a non-penetrating mount/pole mount on the ground for line of sight.

The app shows 102.8W. I just didn’t want the OP to get confused when they launch the app since it lists 103 as 102.8
