If you are referring to a national free preview, the free weekend that premiums occasionally get, then that is only usable from DirecTV equipment itself and not accessible from 3rd party options like your Roku.
However, if you have individually added Cinemax to the account with a special such as 3 free months, then you download the Cinemax app to your Roku and log in using your DirecTV credentials. You must have setup the online access on DirecTV's website first as that is what it uses.
Assuming the free 3 months is what you are talking about, remember they charge starting the day it was added and give you a flat credit for the full value on the next 3 bills. This is because the premiums bundle into each other for a small multi discount so cannot add it separate at a $0 charge. If you remove exactly at the 3-month mark, then the charges and credits equal out. But it is up to you to remove it whenever you are done. Unlike the preview weekend that everyone gets which is on and off by the company, an individual account option does not remove automatically.

DirecTV Satellite "free previews" can only be viewed using DirecTV equipment.

No. It says I need a subscription. At the very top of the screen in the right hand corner is Directv & a gear symbol but I can’t seem to move to that
