Code 771 Signal Loss

I lost Direct TV yesterday afternoon, 19 Mar, in zip code area 80013. I've unplugged everything , reset red button, I even tried to reset receivers via link on website...nothing! When I call for tech support, I get sent through all of these prompts and eventually get recording can't be helped at this time, try back later!

771 is a dish alignment problem there are videos on youtube if you want to try it yourself otherwise you have to call/chat for a tech call $99 covered if you have the protection plan.

I had a 771 error the other day too when Tech support was unavailable. I’ve had plenty in the past that the help desk always walked me through when my equipment & satellite were fine.

The easiest fix is if heavy storms are in your area just wait them out & your signals should return automatically (you can still watch your DVR shows while waiting).

But if all else fails (meaning you’ve tried resetting your equipment and checking all your cable connections) I’ll relay what I did (which I think is what the techs had me do all of those times before). I went into the Settings Menu then Satellite submenu then chose Repeat Satellite Setup. I had to press the dash key - to continue then I chose Reset Defaults before the going to chose continue on the same screen (I may have had to press dash again). But my signals returned with in minutes of the Setup completing.

The powers that be here gave what I did both Approved Solution & Official Solution Status.

I don’t know if you can follow any of the above or if you would choose to wait for an actual tech to walk you through it.

Stay safe through the virus crisis in any event!
