Codec install fails after activation
So I've been searching for a solution to this problem for a while and have had no success thus far so I'm posting here. I've done MULTIPLE things to try and get this working...
First my Custom PC details:
Asus P9X79 Deluxe Mobo
Intel Core i7 3930
32GB Corsair Vengence PC1600 RAM
OCZ Agility3 SSD (on the intel controller... primary drive)
2 x WD Raptors in RAID0
Windows 7 SP1 x64
Receivers:
HR21-700
HR24-500
Network Details:
Everything is GigE connected to the same central switch (physical cables, no wireless)
The issue:
When I install the 7507 build of directv2pc, everything goes fine and I can open it and activate (eventually), once it starts downloading the additional install stuff required for playback (I assume this is the codec info from Cyberlink), it starts to install and I get an error at the very end which forces me to close the install (or search the web for a solution, which I've done... hah!). I can then open directv2pc, select a program to watch, hit play and then the program crashes.
I thought there may be an issue with software on my PC...
What I've done:
- I started by doing a fresh install on my PC, complete reinstall including all drivers and all my business software too (Office, VPN, etc)... Failed in exactly the same way described above.
- Next, I reinstalled, W7 SP1 x64, and then only installed the chipset drivers (v9.2.3.1020) and the AMD/ATI catalyst package (v11.11)... just those, that's it... no patches, no other programs or drivers.... FAILS IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY
- I thought it might be my download... so I bootcamped my Macbook Pro, took the same directv2pc executable to that computer, installed it... works fine.

Have you tried disabling your firewall and virus filter during installation?

Thanks for the reply.... When I did my barebones install with just minimal drivers, there was no AV installed yet. As far as the firewall goes, I don't specifically disable it but I'm not having any problems activating or downloading the codec pack after activation, it's the install of that codec pack that is failing. It is trying to register a dll and is failing, the details of the error indicate regsvr32 failed but it doesn't mention which dll it failed on. I don't think that is a firewall issue.

Perhaps not, but it's a free try and we've had lots of firewall issues posted in the past. But, your choice of course.
