Connecting playlist to directv app

Why does the directv app say 'We couldn't connect to your DVR', when they are on the same WiFi and when I manually enter the IP Address?

What model DVR do you have? I used to be able to display the playlist too but now I get that same message. I have 2 HR-2X dvr’s, not a genie. I just figured an app update took that away for non-genies.
