Direct TV says not connected to Internet- Settings say it is

I am new- NEVER had this problem with COX. Did I make a mistake switching?

Hi , we want you to enjoy your service as expected. Please, follow the steps on how to connect your service to the internet:

 

Connect the Genie HD DVR to Wi-Fi manually:

  1. Press MENU on your remote.
  2. Select Settings > Internet Setup > Connect Now. If you're reconnecting to the internet, select Reconnect Now.
  3. After the system checks the connection status, select Set Up Wireless.
  4. Select your wireless network.
  5. Enter your wireless network password and select Continue.

Connect the Genie HD DVR to the internet with a cable:

 

  1. Connect the ethernet cable to the back of the Genie and connect to the router or gateway connected to your home internet service.
  2. Press MENU on your remote.
  3. Select Settings > Internet Setup > Connect Now. If you're reconnecting to the internet, select Test Connection.
  4. After the system checks the connection status, select Done.

Direct TV says...

Do you have DirecTV (satellite service which can connect to internet for optional perks) or DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only, requires internet)?

Just bought a Samsung 85” tv, have the genie set up, we’re only getting a basic 6 for internet !!! And can’t connect genies or tv to internet !!? We’re paying 536.00 a month!!!

If you have a Genie then you have satellite service, not DirecTV Stream. Moving to satellite forum.

You say basic 6 for internet, cannot connect your Genies or even your TV to internet. Sounds like your issue is your internet provider itself. Whoever that is contact them about it. (DirecTV is not a TV provider).

If you have an issue specific to DirecTV, then please post a fresh thread as you've posted in one from a couple years ago (2023).

Bill being over $500 a month is not normal for most people (that is around double the high end). Unless you are subscribed to a lot of optional services, then I would review to see exactly what you are paying for.
