DirectTv app no longer working from iOS devices via lightning to HDMI connection
I am deployed to a combat zone and a DTV customer for 13 years. I have been using the DTV iOS app , connecting my iPad to a TV via a lightning to HDMI connection. It has been wonderful to have access to all of my stations. I just updated to iOS 16.2 yesterday, and now the HDMI connection is frozen on the TV. I can have full function on the iPad, but I can no longer send the desired program to the larger TV via HDMI connection. I just get a single frozen image. All other apps ( YouTube, Netflix, HBO max, etc) work normally. Only the DTV app will not work. This has been reported on other forums for many months. My cohort of troops enjoy being able to join me for viewing DTV. Please fix this ASAP. This is a significant downgrade of service for those of us who serve

I WISH I could help you. However, being we are just customers on a public forum, we couldn’t assist. I suggest you download each station’s independent application and log in with DIRECTV as the TV Provider to gain access to live TV and on-demand of that station. Many prime news stations, sports channels, etc have an independent app.

Supposedly there's a DirecTV App update coming next week. Maybe it will fix this and many other issues.

With DirecTV (satellite) you pay for each authorized TV on the service. As such, the old app was not supposed to allow streaming to TV (by lightning adapter or other methods). That was not something to fix as was by design. If it was working for you then you were lucky as it wasn't supposed to. This restriction was also to prevent account sharing as TV viewing was to be at your home, not others (or public TV sharing). Being in the service doesn't change the design.
With the new app that is combining DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM, it was originally expected to run the same but there have been issues with the app running correctly based on which of the two providers you have. Beyond that there has been speculation the new app (once bugs are worked out) might be removing this restriction. There is supposedly an update comming within the next week or so that may clear this up.
