Directv enhanced content on Tivo HD dvr

I have the Directv TiVo HD dvr, THR22, and I'm having trouble with the enhanced content. Basically the Tivo dvr's have 2 tuners recording a 30 minute cache at all times on which ever channel they are on, so that you don't have to record every program.

The Directv enhanced content, from what I can tell, is the ppv movies that are available from channels 125 - 198.  Directv downloads these movies to have them available in case you want to watch them. Since there are always new movies, this is constantly downloading. So if I'm trying to watch programs on different tuners (channels), one of the channels gets interrupted. If I'm watching something and a program is scheduled to record while this content is being downloaded, the tivo will make me change my channel instead of stopping the enhanced content download. This happens constantly. I have already disabled the recording for TiVo suggestions and restarted the Tivo, but I can't stop the enhanced downloads.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

You're not alone ....

And no, there's no way to stop it.

Just wondering if you have your TiVo connected to an internet network?

It seems like the "enhanced content" is nothing more than PPV movies.

I agree.  I hate the enhanced content downloads.  There is no specific time that it does this.  It switches the channel on the receiver that I am not currently watching.  It does it all the time.

When I'm not recording, I like to watch different shows on either receiver. I switch back and forth between the two, especially if I've caught up to current time and do not want to watch the commercials.  Often I switch back to the other receiver and it has switched to downloading enhanced content.

Yes, you can press rec to stop it, but then it puts both receivers on the same channel and you have lost the green line and the show you were watching.

I just spoke with DirecTV tech support and she suggested that I call TiVo.  However, it does not say, TiVo enhanced content, it says DirecTV enhanced content.  For those of us who do not want this and do not use Wi-Fi, It is extremely annoying to not be able to switch this feature off.

She tried to find a solution and could not, so she escalated it.  Maybe, if enough of us call and complain and escalate, they will build in a way to switch this off.

I doubt that there will ever be an option to turn it off, it is a catch 22 Tivo provides the software but DTV tells TiVo what they want it to do and DTV wants that content on all their DVRs

It should be noted that the Directv DVR's downloads this same content and the user is never aware that it's happening.  With either a HD DVR or a Genie, I've never had the background recordings interrupt me in any way.  If others are having similar experience then it would appear that there is some design feature of the TiVo that causes the conflict.

The few times I have seen it it has been after 1am. and yes it is probably something in the Tivo software but if someone was flipping back and forth using double play on a non Tivo DTV receiver would the download start or a message come up?

Enhanced Content is for sure a pain.  Mine does it three times every day morning, noon, and night. It does suck

You can do that. I got about $30/month off. They will definitely lose my business as soon as my contract is up. Directv doesn't give a flying crap about the Tivo customers. I'm done dealing with the download aggravation and spending an hour or more on the phone every time I call to complain (uselessly). Last time I called they admitted that this will never be fixed and we will just have to put up with it. Same to you Directv!
