DIRECTV Stream does not stream DVR recordings
When I first installed DIRECTV Stream it would stream DVR recordings just fine when connected to the same network as the DVR. For the last six weeks, though, it will not. I see the recordings in My Library, but they will not stream from the DVR. The ones that happen to be available by VOD can be streams on demand. The others show a slash-though-circle icon and the text "DVR only".
I have only one home internet network, with an AT&T modem. The DIRECTV Genie gateway and my devices are connected to it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DIRECTV Stream app, cold rebooting the modem and gateway, and speaking with tech support. The support rep told me that the app is still under development and buggy, and the inability to stream DVR recordings is a known problem. Is that really true, though? Is anyone able to stream DVR recordings now? I'd expect to see a lot of chatter in forums if that were the case.

DirecTV Stream recordings are only stored in the cloud, not on a dedicated home DVR. You mentioned "Genie" which is DirecTV satellite. DirecTV Stream and DirecTV satellite are 2 separate services. Which service do you have?

I guess I'm on the wrong forum. I have Directv satellite service, but I use the DirecTV Stream app on devices to watch live TV. This is an option to watch DVR recordings on the app. I used it all the time on the old Directv app, but that app has gone away and has been replaced by the Directv Stream appl

I have read several posts that provide the answer. The new DIRECTV Stream app is the only app currently available to Directv satellite customers that can stream live TV and on-demand content. The capability to stream DVR recordings is a planned feature but is not currently available. Apps like Directv on the Go will work, but they have been phased out and are now unavailable. Very frustrating. Watching DVR recordings while working out (at home) is a big thing for us.
Bottom line: Directv satellite customers are currently out of luck.

AFAIK it is not a planned feature but a bug that is preventing watching the DVR.
