DIRECTV Tower & TV Ears

My Mom has used TV Ears for years.  When DIRECTV installed the tower, the TV Ears won't work anymore.  Help!  We even bought a new set of TV Ears thinking the old ones just broke.  But the new ones don't work either!

"Tower"?

What DVR model do you have?  Perhaps the HR17 Genie DVR?

Don't the TV Ears connect to the TV, not the DVR?

Is this what she has ....

It should connect to the TV's audio output.

They do have the Genie. Yes, the link is what she has (TV Ears). We do have it connected to the Audio output.

TV Ears Customer Service recommended turning the Dolby setting to OFF. Which we did but the TV Ears still do not work.

Are there any other forced settings when the Genie is installed that may impact the Audio output?

The TV Ears have worked for years before the Genie was installed.

Thank you!

The HS17 has nothing to do with the TV Ears not working if it is connected to the TV audio outputs, connecting it to the TV means if you change the TV inputs the sound with change also.   If you want to connect it to the mini then you will need a composite 10 pin din cable to connect to the A/V output jack.
