DIRECTV2PC is not working today.

Hi all,

I feel I should preface by saying I've been using with no issue for years, and was able to use the program yesterday with no issue.

 

Today the program starts up and says it cannot connect to the update server (brand new as of today), then after I hit continue (tried try again to no avail) it loads my receiver "playlist."  I can see all of my content mirrored from my HD-DVR, however if I try to play any item it looks like it's about to play and then it says:

 

Directv2pc could not connect to the receiver. Please check your Internet connection and then try again.

 

Nothing has changed on my PC; I even checked to make sure Windows didn't update in the night. (it didn't)

OS: Win 7 x64 ultimate.

 

Going to try to do a clean install. Please post if there is another way to try to sort this out.

Hi all,

In-case this happens to anyone else it was a windows firewall issue. I'm not sure what changed but disabling it worked perfectly.

 

Can anyone let me know what ports this application is running on so I can let those slide for local network and re-enable the firewall except for that port?

Read through the help pages, they give some port info.  However, the firewall should configure automatically to allow the program.  I would disable the firewall, shut down Directv2PC, do a red button reset on the DVR, start Directv2PC, confirm it's working then reenable the firewall.  The firewall should see the running program and allow it.

 

I wouldn't ever consider a fresh install except under the most dire of circumstances.  This software is equivalent to stuff from the Win 95 era as far as being user friendly to install.
