DirecTV2PC seems to lock up on PC once show is to start

I went through the entire set up process for DirecTV2PC without any issues.  I did the scan before hand and got all green lights.  The program seems to start up and run ok and even find all of my recordings off of my DVR.  When i click to watch the screen changes to the show, but then nothing.  All i have is a black screen with all the standard DVR buttons on the bottom.  The time elapse bar is there at 0 minutes, but the screen is black. no picture no sound.  I re-installed the software and received the same results.  PC task manager indicates that the program is non-responsive.  I have attempted to watch a show four times with the same results. 

Don't know the entire specifics but network components between PC and DVR is Netgear router and a netgear switch.   The DVR is connected via a cat5 cable to network.  Dell PC is a vista home 32-bit OS with core 2duo intel.  4 GB Ram.
