Dolby Atmos

Directv Satellite:

What do I look for in info on movies for instance to know that im getting Dolby Atmos. I see Dolby symbol on 1080p and just HD on other movies. So is Atmos sound only on 1080p or both HD and 1080p OR neither?????

thanks

DTV has nothing to do with what programs use Dolby Atmos that is up to the content providers that made it.

Agreed but directv is not passing through any Atmos content movies that I have found and Ive spent days testing etc.

I know top gun maverick is made with Atmos content but after recording it on Genie DVR and playing it with my new Atmos AVR attached (which is connected directly to the Genie and not through the TV) there is no Atmos content. Dolby Surround is there but no Atmos. I'm told there are 2 versions of movies (one with-one without Atmos) Come to the conclusion that directv doesnt broadcast Atmos versions of any movies. What a waste.

Thanks Guys

DTV doesn't broadcast anything they rebroadcast what the channels send them, On Demand uses the channels servers.  PPV movies are more likely to have it.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to us, we know you want to enjoy your content with the best quality. About the Dolby Atmos sound, it depends on how the movie was made or how it is transmitted. Thank you for contacting DIRECTV, it's a pleasure to help you. Santiago, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Ok well I understand with the help of others on here that your just maybe rebroadcasting what is given to you, and as you say transmitted. Some Movies that I am watching have audio Dolby Atmos but im not getting those sound tracks/channels from those movies. So little angry here.

LOOK I PAY YOU DIRECTV (santiago) ALOT OF MONEY EACH MONTH SO PAY YOUR CHANNELS THAT TRANSMITTING IT TO YOU AND/OR UPDATE YOUR EQUIPMENT SO AUDIO COMES THROUGH LIKE ITS SUPPOSE TO FROM HOW THE ORIGINAL MOVIE IS ENCODED.
