Download shows on new app

So I got a message saying the old app was going away in a couple of weeks. It does not appear that I can download any of the shows on my direct ( I have satellite). Am I mistaken? Do I need to change service to comcast or some other service. Almost worthless if I can’t watch shows when off line.

Hello there. We don't want to see you go. The new DIRECTV App is a better viewing experience with fewer clicks to get to your favorite shows, pause live TV, and much more. The download features you value now on the DIRECTV on the Go App will become available in the near future on the new DIRECTV App. Luis, DIRECTV Community Specialist

So now the old app is gone. I have satellite Directv. The new app might reduce clicks on live tv and on demand, not sure since I don't do that. I record shows and then download them to watch. I can't download (I doubt that will be coming anytime soon, since the have been saying that for many many months). It doesn't even let me watch the recorded shows when. Connected to wifi. Only lets me watch those shows, on demand, with commercials. I really don't understand the value of this app, other than to show a list of shows I recorded. I can download a number of them on Hulu. If I am just going to watch them on Hulu, why not stop paying for direct tv and use much less expensive options.

Good point. Why not stop paying? I always understood that directv would never integrate such a feature into their new app, while others may seem to think that they will (it’s quite the debate).

It's looking like DirecTV will never restore that ability to download recordings.
