DVR on phone

I’m trying to download my shows from my DVR to my phone, and when I’m trying to turn on auto prepare, it will not turn on. I keep getting a message saying they will download when I get home, but I am home and the internet is connected so I don’t understand what is happening.

Here to to help @Mdiel123! Let's get you mobile DVR working properly.

Auto Prepare is only available with Mobile DVR. HR44, HR54, H44+HDD, and HS17 have the ability to automatically prepare programs on its Playlist before the user request a download. This is done so that a user can download a program on to their mobile device without having to wait.

When first turned on, it can take a long time to prepare all the existing content on the Genie. The time needed is based on the number of hours of programming the customer has recorded.

  • Auto prepare is set to OFF by default.
  • Customers have the ability to enable auto prepare during registration. See below for steps to turn on.
  • 25% or more free space on the Genie hard drive is needed for auto prepare to transfer all the DVR playlist. If less than 25% is free, some recorded programs may not prepare.
  • Mobile DVR does not delete any programming on the Genie to make space.

To enable Auto Prepare from the DIRECTV App Settings & Help screen:

  • Activate the Client device.
  • Proceed to the Settings & Help screen.
  • Select DVR Access.
  • Turn on the Auto Prepare option.

Once Auto Prepare is first turned on, the customer does not have the option to cancel preparations until auto prepare has completed for all existing recordings. Also, even once all the programs are prepared you cannot turn off preparation of a new program without turning off the Auto-Prepare feature. This can take a long time depending on the number of hours of recorded content on the Genie.

Let's also make sure your receiver and the mobile device are on the same network.

If this doesn't help, let's troubleshoot your DIRECTV receiver.

Please let us know if this helps.
