error 771 only on a few channels

The dish needs to be aligned, there are videos on youtube if you want to DIY otherwise you have to call DTV to setup a tech visit.

Thanks. The dish is on a very steep roof 35 feet up and it is 15 degrees outside. Why just a few channels have the 771 error message?  

DTV may have to install a new dish in a place they can service it as new OSHA rules will not allow them to leave the ladder.

There are multiple satellites with multip-le transponders. When the dish is out of alignment it's quite norml for this to affect some channels more than others.

Problem is result of failed negotiation with Cox Media who has disabled some channels as a bargaining  tactic.

771 messages have nothing to do with the Cox dispute. They indicate low signal strength, almost always caused by dish misalignment.

The Direct TV telephone support guy said the issue with Cox was resolved and the 771 message would be fixed. By the end of the day my 771 error was fixed with no more trouble shooting by me.

It will probably come back.
