firestick with Directv app

I have installed the DirecTV app on multiple TV's at my home with new Firesticks. After I login to my DirecTV account through the app with the firestick, I get a screen showing "live & upcoming sports" with scores that are current & updating on the screen but at this point I can't get to the DTV guide or any other channels. The buttons on the firestick to control these functions are just frozen and I can't go anywhere. I've tried unplugging the firestick, uninstalling the app & re-install but same issue. Any thoughts?
