FOX and NBC
Our area has been without our local FOX channels for almost a year and it is way beyond time for you to put an end to this. We are the ones suffering, not Directv and we are the ones still paying you every month for services not being rendered. Now that you no longer have the NFL TICKET, which we had from the beginning, we don't even have FOX to watch the games on.
We have now lost our local NBC stations also. Why do you expect us to continue with Directv? We are now paying for two networks that we don't get, your one time $10 credit is not worth anything to us as end users.
Directv needs to put its customers first and settle these disputes quickly so you don't loose anymore customers. When Directv started it was an excellent service but in the last couple of years we are thinking about going with someone else, anyone else other than Directv.
I'm doubt we will receive any good response from Directv as it appears you really no longer care about your customers.

It's up to the network owners to "put an end to this". They're the ones that pull your stations from DirecTV. Sadly, the same thing happens to other service providers, so switching providers won't really help. Lobby the network owners that continually jack up the $$$ they demand from TV service providers, causing everyone's rates to go up and up and up.
In the mean time, perhaps you can use an off-air antenna?

For DirecTV to "put an end" to the situation, they would have to give in to Nexstar's demands. Then that further increases our bills. I would rather DirecTV hold out as I am tired of local channels and their constant rate increases every time.
If you are suffering not having a channel or two, than reevaluate your dependency on TV. It is simply entertainment. Nobody truly needs it.
Nothing entitles you to any specific channel. Since TV providers do not own the channels, they each have a clause that programming/channels are subject to change at any time. Packages include access to locals, but no promise is made on any channel always or ever being there. As long as you are getting one local channel, then services are being rendered.
If you seriously cannot live without local channels, plug in a regular antenna and get the free broadcast. You say DirecTV is not putting customers first. So by giving in and raising prices that much more you think is customer friendly? You'll complain either way.
This is a public forum of other customers. If you want DirecTV's official position, then check the proper web page. https://www.directv.com/tvpromise/
Switching providers doesn't protect you. They all go through these negotiations. Local affiliate channel owners have been pulling the feed more often in recent years to leverage higher costs.
Time to look at the big picture of the industry and all costs that are moving instead of "suffering" that you can't watch a channel for a while. DirecTV cares about their customer as much as they ever have as they are a business, not someone personally coddling you.

Juniper,
"This is a public forum of other customers." You are correct but we ARE customers and have been a long time. As to some of your other comments for people in their late 70's TV can be important.
Apparently you do not mind being charged for a service or product you are not receiving.
You are intitled to your opinion.

You are receiving service as DTV is delivering channels by satellite, there is never a guarantee what channels DTV sends you.

We are NOT being charged for a service not being received.
Our packages only include access to locals in general. How many locals or which locals we get are subject to change. As long as you get one local, you are receiving exactly what you pay for.
As soon as a new agreement is hashed out, it is expected to add to the next price adjustment. The more the channel owners charge the TV providers, the more they have to charge us in turn. It is a viscous cycle, but that is the reality.
TV is still a form of entertainment, not a utility or necessity of life. I get it is very desirable for some older folks. But at no time should a channel or two dictate one's way of life.
But again, nowhere does it say on the bill or Terms of Service that you are guaranteed those channels.

Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.
Would you be happy the channel is back quick but you get more of a price increase for it? Many of us don't want that. I like many others did not go to pay TV for locals. So I stand by the option to use a regular antenna to get the free broadcast. Though I wish those who grab the torches and pitchforks for these otherwise free locals would band together and offer to pay the entire increase for those of us who don't want the additional charge.
