future 3DTV compatibility (let's make a list of TVs we need to work!)

I just purchased a brand new, 2011 model Samsung PN59D550 3DTV and I found out that it's not compatible with DirecTV. My own fault, I suppose, but I didn't even consider that only certain TVs will work with DirecTV 3D. What 3DTVs do you have that are not compatible with DirecTV? I don't know if there's anything DirecTV can do, but let's list our TVs here and see if we can get the functionality!

Who else is having this problem? It's quite frustrating as I purchased a brand name, current model TV (it's not like a bought an unknown generic brand!)

Does anyone know if DirecTV can do something about this or is it the TV manufacturers?

I really think that TV should work. I have a Samsung Plasma that works just fine, even though it isn't on DirecTV's supported list. What specific problems and/or error messages are you getting?

Make sure that your HDMI cable is a high speed cable and that it directly connected to your TV. If you are routing through a home theater that is not HDMI1.4 compliant that may be causing your problem. I have an LG 47LW5600 that works great on my HR24-200. I am working with DirecTV to figure out why my H24-200 gives me a message that my TV does not support the programs protection. I believe that is a DirecTV receiver problem and not system related though. What DirecTV receiver are you using and what indication are you getting that your TV will not work with their 3D programming?

Vizio Model XVT3D424SV

I have tried it with high speed HDMI.  Negative results.   When switching to a 3D channel I get a pop up box that reads:

"3D content detected.  Select YES to switch to 3D. NO to display in 2D"

When I press the left arrow to highlight the YES, the Guide screen opens in the background.  The NO stays highlighted.

On September 16th I called and got switched to several different people, all very courteous trying to fix my problem.  The last woman I talked to put me on hold for a while and got back to me.  She said she had spoken to someone else and indicated that it was a known software glitch and that a blanket fix had not been engineered, but that between 24 and 72 hours either new software would be automatically downloaded, or I would see a message on the screen when I turned it on.  It sounded like maybe I was going to get a Beta.  It didn't happen

It is now the 28th and I called again.  This time I was told that my TV was not on the list of compatible sets and that basically I was SOL; I should keep checking the list on the website.  Again, very nice people to talk to and deal with, but not the answer I wanted to hear.

The 3D programming was a big part of why I signed up for DirectV and I am not happy that I cannot get it for the money I am paying for it.  They want me to recommend the service to others?  Not yet I am not.

I'm a clown and now realize that I have basically started this thread for no reason.  This is the first 3D TV I've been in front of, so I had no idea how it worked.  When I tuned into ESPN 3D, all I saw was a split screen and hastily assumed that my TV was not compatible.  All it took was a simple press of the 3D button on the Samsung remote and it worked perfectly.  I figured it out soon after my original post and forgot to come back and update.

Thank you for trying to help and I'm sorry I wasted your time!

For the record, the Samsung PN59D550 is compatible with DirecTV.
