Green screen
I am trying to get the directv2pc to work on my laptop. The program itself seems to be running fine as I can see all the recorded content. However, when I try to watch a video all I get is the sound and a green screen. My computer is a Dell Inspiron that I bought towards the end of the summer and it runs Windows 7. It has a Intel Graphics 3000 graphics chip with about 1700 MB of memory. When I run the directv2pc advisor, I get red lights for the "screen capture protection" and the graphics card driver. I have the most up-to-date graphics driver. I've called directv tech support and their advice was to check the firewall (directv2pc is an allowed program) and to check the forums. They had no advice at all as to how to fix the issues giving the red lights. From the forums, it seems like there are a couple possibilities. One, is that directv2pc and intel graphics simply don't play nicely and there is no hope. Two, directv2pc and laptops simply don't play nicely and there is no hope. Finally, I need to find a way to disable the HDMI port on the side of my laptop (which I can't figure out how to do). I'm sure I'm missing some other possibilities. One thing I saw is that HD content doesn't work for some people, but non-HD does. That is not the case for me (unless the programs I'm trying to play are HD even though they are labelled as such).
Anyway, I'm writing this post because I don't know what else to do. I would greatly appreciate any other ideas to fix this as it seems like it would be a really nice feature to use.
Sorry if the above is too long and thanks in advance to anyone who responds!

I'm running a brand new XPS 17 with green screen as well. I7 processor. I have optimus that I can't be disabled. Just upgraded the integrated card driver and same result. Won't run on the NVIDIA side because of the protection problem. Come on guys Comcast and others have figured out how to put content that people subscribe to available on the web and by smart phone. As many programs that get screwed up over satellite because of weather it would be nice to have an internet back up. Especially if you can't keep your Direct2pc software up to date.

I just ordered an XPS with a i7. It's not scheduled to arrive until the 23rd, but after I get a chance to install the software I'll post back if I have any luck.

Have you solved your technical problem yet? http://www.directv.com forums are different than I had thought.

I haven't solved the problem yet. For what it's worth, I've gotten more and better information from these forums (and from the user dcd in particular: Thanks!) than I have from conversing with the tech support people at directv.

I would suggest you folks all read the last post to the linked forum thread. That individual had green screen on a laptop and corrected the problem.

Thanks for posting that. It's reassuring to see that some folks are getting it to work. I don't have a Nvidia card, so I'm not sure their solution is something I can try. I did attempt switching windows themes, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Is there an equivalent mechanism on Intel video cards that performs the same function as the Optimus thing that might be causing the same problem? (Sorry for the imprecise languauge, I'm in a bit over my head here.)
Thanks again.
