HD Picture Size Settings

Hi. I am trying to get movies to show in letterbox. When I select the settings screen, I am offered; original format, stretch, pillar box (puts bars on sides), and crop. On the phone for 1/2 hour and directv tech can't figure out why it doesn't say letterbox. I have a samsung 52b630. Anybody have any ideas?
