HD Receivers (HR24-700) Cannot Connect to Internet

I am supposed to have the Whole-Home setup, however my HD receivers can no longer record or view content, nor can I access the on-Demand channels.  I have the following equipment:

HR24-100 (DVR Receiver)

HR24-700 (HD Receiver) --> x2 in the home

2-Wire broadband gateway

When the technician first installed the system into my home (with the equipment listed above), everything worked fine.  I could record from any of the 3 receivers in my house, and also watch recorded programs from any of the 3 receivers.  I went away for the Labor Day holiday, and when I returned yesterday, I could no longer view the recorded material from the HR24-700 (Non-DVR HD receivers).

I am technically savvy, so I checked the network settings and noticed that the subnet mask address was wrong, and that the DNS and gateway addresses were no longer populated.  I filled in the correct info and neither non-DVR HD receiver would detect an internet connection (although it did detect the network...weird!)  Anyhow, I unhooked all equipment, let it power cycle, connected it all back the way it was, and still nothing.  Then I reset each of my receivers...nothing.  I researched online and tried a couple of things...nothing.  I called for technical support and they just took me through all the steps that I'd already gone through.  The person then tried to tell me that it HAS to be a problem with my ISP even though I could successfully connect my laptop wired or wirelessly to the internet through the same 2-wire gateway...then they told me to call Geek Squad...nice !

The one thing I see over and over again on this forum is the need for an adapter.  The person I spoke to earlier re: technical support for this issue told me that I did not need DECAs or a wireless adapter...what is the correct answer?

All I want is for my system to work as advertised, and all I have experienced is issue after issue with DTV.  I am seriously considering canceling my DTV service after only 2 weeks because of the multiple issues I've encountered with user interface, connectivity and poor customer service!

Can someone please provide me with some kind of meaningful information?!!!
