Help watching my DVR recordings on laptop
I am finally on summer break and have tons of recordings I have been saving and needing to catch up on. I do not see on my laptop how to access my recordings and I'm almost certain I used to be able to do this. I'm currently at my home in GA where my service is. When I go under "Playlist" it says it is empty and if this is the same as my recordings that is far from accurate. I want to be able to watch everything on my laptop when I go visit my mom in TN. Can anyone tell me the steps I need to take?

DTV no longer supports watching DVR recording on laptops/PC.

Hey @y2kaka, let's get you the help you need to watch the recorded shows.
Access your DVR Recordings on your DIRECTV app on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet) only, by following the next steps:
1. Be sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi® network and make sure your show has finished recording.
2. Open the DIRECTV App and select My Library.
3. Choose a title from your playlist.
Find out more info on how to watch recordings on the DIRECTV App.
Let us know how it goes.

@y2kaka if you plan to watch the recordings away from your home network, you must download all of them on your tablet or phone while on the same network as your Genie HD DVR Receiver (HR44 and above). And these recordings that are downloaded are only preserved for 30 days. After that time, you must come back to your home network to download new recordings.

Wow. Well first thank everyone for your help. I really appreciate it. This is alot. Why are they making this so hard? Yes I will be away from home so I wouldn't be on my home network but who has that kind of memory on their phone or tablet to download everything? Plus I wonder how long downloading will take if I planned on leaving soon. Also who wants to watch on a small phone screen? Not sure what a HR22 is. I have a wireless genie mini in the secondary bedrooms. I will give these suggestions a try but I hope they go back soon to just being able to login in from your laptop and watch. I wonder why the change. Very inconvenient. Thanks again

@y2kaka don't get confused lol, the HR22 is a general HD DVR receiver, not at all a Genie receiver.
You need to look for your main receiver (hint: The Biggest One that uses a Coax connection). The model number is usually on the back of the receiver and will be in the format (Model Number: HRxx) xx represents the two unknown numbers of the receiver.
Depending on how much storage your device has, it should be able to handle a couple recordings. Nothing too major.

AFAIK DTV will never allow laptops/PC to access the DVR because of copy protection problems.

Ok. I just looked and it says HR44 🙌🏾 So that's good. It's just that 90% of my DVR is full so that's how much stuff I would have to download to watch while I'm gone for the summer.😟 But ok. Thank you everyone. You all have been very helpful.🙏🏾

You can just download a few at a time or you may have to get a Slingbox that can control the HR44 and steam the content.

If you can get remote viewing working on the app, you may be able to cast it to a TV screen. A little cumbersome, but it could work, depending on your hardware. I have found the chrome cast to work ok sometimes, sometimes not a all. Flaky.
