Horrible stream app

You have forced us to use new stream app but it’s horrible. Has so many less features than old app and barely works. This “upgrade” is a MAJOR downgrade. Please bring back old app to your longtime customers. Issues with new app include but are not limited to:

  • inability to connect to my DVR
  • does not let me download programs that are on my Genie dvr
  • the ONE time that it did connect to my dvr, I could only watch shows that said “streamable” which 99% of my shows were apparently not streamable. Then when I clicked on the two shows that were allegedly streamable, it said they were not. 
  • guide is not as nice as it was in other app
  • can only connect to our own dvr when we are home but as stated above, mine never connects. 

This is very frustrating for a longtime customer. I’m presently looking into other companies that have actual apps that work as opposed to this terrible new version we are being forced to switch over to use. 

If you look at the App Store and filter the ratings by most recent, you will see that the majority of your customers are experiencing issues with this app. It’s not a great business model to force customers to use a new app that feels like no one tested it first. You should have put together a test group first.

Juan,

The link that you attached is what I am most frustrated about: "Discontinuation of Mobile DVR in the new experience."  Removing mobile DVR is essentially taking away a major feature that many of your customers use.  The new Stream app is advertised as though it's an amazing new perk for customers, but it's really not equitable and feels like you didn't even have customers test it out first.

I agree Jammy.  Its one (Edited per community guidelines).  Cant watch on my computer anymore and cant watch local channels anymore on mine.  Youtube TV is looking better everyday.

I am still using the old app and am able to watch programs on my iPad that the new app says are not available! Very frustrating.

Although I still have the old app, it also won’t download anymore. I can’t believe how far the app has fallen. It was better than Netflix in the beginning. It’s now completely worthless. I can’t even watch my recorded shows in my home on the phone. I’ve had DIRECTV for 19 years primary for the Sunday ticket. Why do I stay?

I checked the APP today and it is working beautifully! Better than Dish and smoother than it used to be!

No, it’s not working any better.  You still can’t download DVR recordings. Half of the items on my DVR are not streamable and can only be watched on the DVR, which renders the app useless for half of my recordings. It still is pretty inferior to the previous version of the Directv App.
