Not possible. FireTV Stick connects directly to an HDMI INPUT on your TV or AV Receiver, not your DirecTV box. Fire Stick is just another video source, like your DirecTV box.

Then you'll want to connect your FireStick to that extra HDMI INPUT on your TV. Change the TV INPUTS to switch between your DirecTV box and FireStick.

Since direct tv is on one hdmi connection and the fire stick is on another, will direct tv still record a program if we are watch a program on the fire stick ?
