I LOVE the new LIVE streaming feature, but...

...I would REALLY LOVE it if the iPad could also stream recorded content.

Will this happen?  I'd be able to get rid of my Slingbox stuff.

I think this would cannibalize DTVs Nomad thing, but it would give its customers so much great functionality.  I really hope they do it.

Can anyone comment?

Are you familiar with the Directv2PC feature?  That streams recorded content to a networked PC, but it requires a good strong computer with a good video card.  The playback is in full HD so I'm not sure the iPad has the horsepower to handle a similar quality, but who knows what the future may bring.

As to Slingbox, that's a totally different application because even the current iPad feature requires that the iPad must be connected to the home network where the HD DVR resides, while the Slingbox can project the playback anywhere you have a Internet connection.

Yes, I saw that Directv2PC feature, but I'm on a Mac, and what I really want is a way to use my living room's DVR content in other rooms, without a PC.  The DTV iPad app COULD work well for that, if I could watch recorded shows and by using Airplay to a Apple TV device.

I don't care to watch stuff outside my home network, but I'm currently using Slingboxes to accomplish that goal.

actually the way I see, is to put a "module" within the iPad app dedicated to the Nomad, this way we would be able to watch the recordings off the HDDVR's.  the Nomad would still be be the middle man to transcode this huge files.
