Image becomes tiny when watching on demand

Sometimes when I try to watch a show on demand, the image will suddenly become only 2/3 of the entire tv screen. Regular television watching is fine, and when the “on demand” program first starts up, it appears normal, then as soon as the actual show begins, boom- tiny and slightly cut off. What is happening??

I'm not sure why that's happening but it almost looks like a picture in picture issue or a format/screen size issue of your TV, I would definitely check the format settings on your TV (not the direcTV receiver).

I will dig around, but... even the commercials on demand go back to regular full screen, then the show comes back on and it gets small/cut off edges again. That’s why I don’t think it’s the tv. Like I said, normal tv watching is fine. Only watching something on demand does this, and it’s only the actual show itself that this happens to. I have also tried just Hitting recording it instead of watching on demand and the recording has the same weirdness.
