IOS (IPAD, Iphone) Unable to login to Directv as a TV provider

I am unable to login to Directv "TV Provider" on any of my IOS devices. I receive error "That user ID doesn't seem to work here. Please sign in with a different ID Care Code 205.4" Any ideas?

We'd love to help you with your streaming experience, @emeyer7.

Did you try using another device?

To get started, we suggest that you clear cache on your device, update your browser, uninstall the app, restart device, reinstall the app and then try again.

We also suggest that you view this great article to get tips on how to troubleshoot your DIRECTV app not working particularly the part that provide details on iPhone troubleshooting.

I just got off my 4th interaction with DirectTV support, did some experimentation myself and checked other forums. This problem seems to be a problem with using the built in Apple centralized "TV provider" setting to log in.

If you turn this option off on the app (inside settings - the option for the HBO app to use the centralized TV provider setting), the App will use its internal authentication process which seems to work just fine.

Again... there is some communication problem between directv and apple (not going to point the finger at either one - but its one or both of them and hopefully get resolved soon) when using the centralized "TV Provider" setting on apple TVs, apple iphones, and apple ipads.

Turning off the link to this setting and using each apps individual authentication system to Directv seems to fix the problem.

I have been trying to research this as well and can’t come up with a solution. It just started to happen, too. I can’t figure out how to turn this option off within the app. I went to settings in HBO but didn’t see where to turn it off. I’ve tried almost every app (ID Go, HBO, TLC, etc). My directv app works fine ... well, I say fine but I constantly get network errors ... lol. The other crazy thing is my Apple TV works fine using the centralized TV Provider. I’m attaching pictures of the process I went through using HBO app. I am using the most recent iOS 13.4.1

You are definitely using the centralized "tv provider" - I can tell by the screenshots you provided. On iphone, you can turn it off by going to settings -> HBO APP (or whatever app you are using) then look for a toggle with a S-cable looking icon saying "TV Provider". Turn that setting off.

You may need to do this with all the apps you use that want directv login... at least temporarily till they resolve the issue.

BTW... on all the forums I've been on, it looks like this issue has just started happening somewhere in the last couple of days (28th-30th of April).

Thank you! I reread your message and figured out what I was doing wrong to disable the single sign on. I was going to settings within the app instead of going to settings on iPhone and then clicking on the app. Again, thank you!

I’m having this same issue and it just started in the past couple of weeks. I’m trying to log into the DisneyNOW app for my son and it’s not taking the user name password and keeps throwing the Care Code: 205.4 I’ve gone in and turned off the SSO within the app and also signed out of the “TV Provider” under settings. Now it’s not even letting me log back into the TV Provider part let alone the DisneyNOW app. So frustrating. I’ve got a 4yo at home during COVID-19 that needs some additional entertainment (and I need a break)! :(
