Is Satellite consistent and reliable without internet?

Is Directv reliable without internet service? I currently use streaming services for various channels, and my internet service is disconnecting regularly. Over the last couple of years my internet service has degraded considerably, it takes about two hours to watch a 42 minute program since the internet disconnects every 10 minutes or so. I want to be able to watch shows without having to constantly reconnect or wait for service to come back online. *Side note: my internet service provider has a monopoly in my area so I cannot select a different provider.

Up to a point, a misaligned dish or heavy rain/snow or snow build up around/covering the dish will cause you to lose the signal.  DTV doesn't need an internet connection but you will not be able to use On Demand, start from the beginning, or the new signal saver that switches to streaming if the signal is lost or paying for PPV with the remote.

Hi, @gracekat1t. @shannon02 is correct. DIRECTV is a satellite service that works well offline. However, with your internet service, you can use SignalSaver. This feature streams a live channel over broadband during weather-related signal issues. Learn more and sign up here: http://directv.com/pick-the-best-package/ Lynie, DIRECTV Community Specialist

DIRECTV is reliable as long as your dish is setup Correctly and have a clear line of site to the sats. Can be used with or without internet service -With internet Service it gives you access to VOD From the channels in your Viewing package.

I suggest you look into Starlink internet Service as a way around your Monopoly easy setup and unlimited service (no Cap)

Yes, sat internet like starlink or hughesnet  or even cellphone hotspot are ways around that.
