It keeps happening. It did it again. MLB recording deleted at the end of the time block.

I worked a fourteen hour day yesterday.  The MLB game I wanted to watch was a day game.  Since I was working, I recorded it.  I finally get home after a very long day and my game isn't in the list.  I go to the recording manager, and sure enough, it was recorded but then deleted at the end of the time allowed for the recording block.  It was not a blacked out game.  It was available to watch on either the Marlins feed (home), or the Rangers feed (away).  It was recorded , then it was deleted automatically by Directv.  When you go to the recording manager and look at recording history, it shows that it was recorded and then deleted.

It says  "GameSearch was performed for the Rangers @ Marlins (Rangers Broadcast) on channel xxx as this program was not authorized due to blackout restrictions in your area.  This episode was partially recorded because the channel became unavailable. (6)

But this isn't what happened.  The program WAS authorized.  There are NO blackout restrictions in my area for this game.  I am very familiar with blackout restrictions and how they work.  On top of that, it wasn't even blacked out as stated in the message, it recorded it, the whole game, you can tell by the green bar at the bottom of the graphic.  The program was FULLY recorded, not partially.  The channel did NOT become unavailable.

This has happened multiple times this year.  But now it's happening almost every recording.  Then I get a game that records fine.  No consistency.  I've been getting the MLB package for years and have recorded hundreds of games over the years.  But now when I get home after a long day, I can't watch the game I specifically recorded.  I have written multiple times about this but my games keep getting deleted.  And guess what the last response I received was?  Here you go, this was the official response from Directv:

"We conducted an investigation and we currently don't have any widespread issue with the problem reported. We're sorry that you missed and unable to record those games."  Really?  This is unacceptable! So since there isn't a big problem, my problem doesn't deserve to get resolved?  I've paid for the MLB package, I spend hundreds of dollars a month with there is no restrictions by MLB to record games in the package, so games record, others are recorded and then auto deleted.  I know the blackout rules.  So what's going on here?  I think that Directv is at fault for having some sort of programing issue.  Maybe it's MLB's fault?  Maybe they are trying to squeeze Directv out and direct customers to the MLB site.  I know that I can go to the MLB app in Apple TV and watch the archived game, but the picture quality is not as good, the sound is worse, the ability to pause and fast forward (Edited per community guidelines).  I want my Directv to work the way it is supposed to and has worked for years prior.

I do know that DirecTV said the interim fix is to record on the 600s, but they said the final/actual fix will come in August.  I would like to know what that actual fix is and how at this time they know it will happen in August.

I would like, for anyone else, to confirm, the 600 channel does work during the game even if you don't have the package. waiting till later to see if it stays or deletes.

I'm having the exact same issue with Guardians MLB games.  It's very frustrating.  I'm loosing 90% of the games right now.  Guess we'll see what's up come the Aug 'fix'.

Watching on the 600s channel fixed my problem.

Correct, just record the game on the local channel in the 600s and it won’t auto delete.  It doesn’t matter if you don’t subscribe to the local sports package as the 600s channels are made available during the actual game if you subscribe to MLB Extra Innings.

But I don’t get most of my Cardinals games on 600 channels - I live in Georgia. I purchased the MLB plan so I could watch the Cards. There is no 600 channel to record. I did NOT have this problem last year.

You should get 671 when the game is playing (even if you don’t pay for that channel) because you are paying for MLB Extra Innings.

I have had the MLB Extra Innings package for over 20 years and this software glitch just hit me the last two nights.  I never watch the games live but always DVR them.  I have always followed the Detroit Tigers and they are playing Cleveland this week so I set all the games of the series to record on Sunday July 7.  Monday's game recorded and I watched it later that night.  Tuesday's game was in the process of recording as I saw it when I went on the DVR list to pick a different previously recorded program to watch.  A couple of hours later when I went to the DVR list to select and watch the game, it was gone.  I thought maybe my wife or I accidentally deleted it.   But then the same thing happened last night (Wednesday).  I found it deleted in the Recording Manager, Recording History with the same blackout message mentioned by spencertco in his original comment.

I believe this to be a Directv software issue of some sort and not something MLB is doing.   In all these years I had not known that these games also become available on the corresponding 600 series channels, so I  will try the fix that shannon02 and cards figured out and report back here tomorrow with the results.

OK, I promised I would come back and update on this issue so here is what happened on Thursday, July 11.

I set-up to record the Tigers/Guardians game on both the 700 series number and the 600 series number for Bally Sports Great Lakes (Cleveland).  They both recorded but sure enough to MLB Extra Innings feed automatically deleted again, but the Bally Sports feed did record and I was able to watch it until the top of the ninth inning when the feed cut off at the 2:30 minute mark even though it had a three hour block of time reserved for it and I added an extra 1 1/2 hours to it when I set it up to record.  Luckily it was a one sided game so it didn't matter at that point.

So it seems to me that if it was actually a "blackout" issue because of where I live, logically I should not have been able to watch this game from any channel.  No, it has to be some bug that has reared its ugly head in the Extra Innings software and hopefully some computer whiz will figure it out real soon.

GaryS4195, just a comment with regard to your game cutting off at the 2:30 mark.  As soon as the game is over (which it was after the top of the 9th since the hometown Tigers were leading) the feed will cut off.  So, in the situation you experienced it was just coincidental that the end of the game occurred at the 2:30 mark. Thanks for your update.

Hi Cards, actually there was two out in the top of the ninth and the next Cleveland batter was just stepping into the box when the feed cut off.

Interesting.  Come to think of it I have had something like that happen before, but it is rare.  Whoever/whatever is in charge of turning off the feed must mess up when the game is actually over.  Normally it should play to completion.
