Yes, many other people on the forum are having issues with local channels. My first recommendation would be to watch the SD version of your local channel ABC. May I ask, what ABC are you trying to watch? (region)

DIRECTV is having conflicts with Tegna and other companies that are causing blackouts and issues with certain local channel markets. To show the SD version of ABC in your guide, follow along with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=186Pw4z6W74
I know that the video talks about getting it to play in a storm, but ignore that. Just do what the man does to turn on the SD version. Watch the SD version of ABC when you get a chance and please post back here on the Forum to tell me if your problem has been resolved.

This is nothing to do with Tegna, in fact I am not sure there are ANY local channel issues like this. detuch you keep posting about this being the reason why things go wrong with local channels when it simply isn't the case. Only similar situation is where you try and display a 720p signal on a TV that does not support 720p. You get this split screen problem. Some ABC stations still use 720p. You need to make sure your receiver is not set to pass 720p signals to the TV.
Of course there should not be a problem with this on the SD version of the channel.

Thanks for that info, @detuch254.
@RobertHun, let's try troubleshooting, and see if this helps with your split screen.
1) Check the receiver’s power supply
2) Test your electrical outlet
Let us know if that helps.

TexasBrit it probably didn't work because how could it be that ABC was the only channel having resolution issues??! If the resolution was off and his TV could only do let's say 480p, all other HD channels would act the same.

No it won't. You should be able to watch the HD channel without any issue.
You do not understand what I am saying. ABC is the ONLY local channel he has that transmits in 720p. All the others transmit 1080i. Getting a split picture is a well-known issuer when you try to display a 720p signal on a TV that does not support it. It used to happen all the time on the old projection systems. If you set your directv box to convert all the signals to 1080i it won't happen.
It should not happen anyway on a TV that is supposed to support 720p but I think it's too much of a coincidence.
You seem to be hung up on disputes between Directv and companies such as Tegna. If there was a dispute, you would either get a blank screen or a 721 message.

well yes please try changing the resolution to only have the 1080i box ticked. If that still doesn't work, try watching ABC in SD.
