I have just realised you are the same person with the posts about not getting 99.

So where did your HR24 come from? My guess is not from Directv. Probably not even from your zip code. That will NOT work. The DVR is probably looking for locals in the wrong place (they are sp;otbeamed and each dma/county gets its locals from different transponders.) You say you have a directv "friend", sorry but they don;'t seem to  know enough about directv to make this work.  Actually it won't work. Go look at your "no 99" thread.

We're not jumping to conclusions. You are giving us information which can't possibly be correct.

TexasBrit you should not be treating people that way.. he was just trying to ask a question and you start attacking him, this is being reported to AT&T asap.

I'm not attacking anyone. If you read his other thread, you will see that he has continually given us information which can't possibly be true. I don't get paid to be on this forum, and I don't work for ATT.

TexasBrit I just read that other thread and it looks like he is either choosing a Legacy or SWM LNB. I can relate if he can't get on his roof, he claims it's high. That's understandable. But, I seem to understand his information just fine. No idea why everyone has such a problem with his choice. But, whatever, let him switch to Dish Network. I still believe you are attacking him and saying he's "uneducated" in the way you keep denying him. I feel that he keeps being denied and isn't able to know at all anymore. Your job as a "volunteer" is to be able to help people and not deny them. Whether he got the receiver from DIRECTV or wherever, it shouldn't matter. He is just asking for tips to get satellite 99 working. That should have nothing to do with where he got a receiver from. He probably doesn't even have the HR44 and is totally confused from continually being denied.

I totally agree joseduckin. I think that's why I'm so clueless on what system I have. I think I might have an HR24-100 and an HR24-500 maybe. But once again, they are volunteering to help and not being paid. If they were being paid that would be a different circumstance. I got the receivers from DIRECTV in 2010. I have been a loyal customer since 2005. I originally had the same dish and TWO D11-100. Then, they were swapped out in 2010 for the new HR24s. I don't recall my DIRECTV friend changing anything out other than the power cord, adding an HDMI cable, and a B-Band Converter for HD programming. 99, 101, and 103 all had a strong signal. Just a week ago, 99 got a weak signal and most of the stations were stating something about signal loss. So, to answer your question TexasBrit, my friend installed it perfectly and it has always worked just fine. I'm going to Dish Network soon because switching to SWM and swapping the dish and everything is not worth it. Dish is also so much cheaper. After the 1st year price hike, the lowest package for DIRECTV, Entertainment, is literally the same price as Dish Network's highest package lol!!

Your job as a "volunteer"

"volunteer" is not a job.  Job you get paid.  Volunteer you don't.

When trying to help posters in this community, we ask questions and expect accurate answers to the best of the user's ability.  When the answers we get don't fit within any appropriate configuration, the answers change back and forth, and screen shots showing equipment inappropriate to a normal user, there will be raised eyebrows.  Just like my raised eyebrows that joseduckin just created an account to post two replies to defend the honor of that other poser.

We can only go on the information we are given. Whether he has an SWM system or a legacy LNB isn't a choice, it's a fact. It's critical in determining why he can't get satellite 99 working. We can't see his system, so the only information we can go on is what he gives us.  If he says he has an HR44, we have to believe him. But then he tells us he is using b-band converters, which is impossible because an HR44 has to have an SWM system. So which is it?

OK, I will say that I have a Legacy system and an HR24-100 and an HR24-500. Don't even worry about local channels. That's another thing. Just help me get 99 working with this information. I live in Colorado Springs, CO.

OK, if you have a legacy system and you now say you don't have an HR44 that's a step forward. The only anomaly is you say you have a splitter and can't have with a legacy system.

Let's assume for the moment what you actually have is this:

legacy dish/lnb, not SWM

four cables from the dish (not one or two)

a multiswitch of some variety

no splitters

two cables from the multiswitch to one of the DVRs, one cable to the other

b-band converters on all the cables from the multiswitch

That would make sense.

If so then your 99 problem is almost certainly just dish alignment. Your very low signals on 103 also wouldd support that conclusion
