Local channels reception

Ever since directv eliminated my network package for my Rv and mandated only one recording capable receiver per house hold I have been carrying my home unit with me on trips .   I’ve been going to the same location for years and it’s apparently  slightly out of range of the local channel signal.  Formerly when I wanted to watch my local channels it would tell me that my signal strength was low and offer the option to watch in low res.  This was a fine and not much of an inconvenience.  Now in the same place it tells me that signal saver is switching to the internet.  Obviously I don’t have internet at the campground/rv so I’m out if business.  Can I turn signal saver off temporarily and go back to getting the low res option ?

Yes, @mpsmabe. You can switch manually or turn off SignalSaver by going to Settings and selecting "Do Not Automatically Switch." Rizza, DIRECTV Community Team

The "low res" option from satellite provided the standard-definition channels from the 101ºW satellite. Those SD channels are no longer available. So your only option when outside the HiDef spotbeam transponders is to stream via internet.

It was the FCC that eliminated access to the DNS channels to TV providers when they allowed the Stellar act to expire.  Only the HS17 Genie2 account forbids other DVRs
