Loss of signal on satellite
It is a clear, warm sunny day here. However, I get loss of signal on satellite on channel 5. All other channels seem to work. Why is this happening?

Hello @FstMnwTBMI,
We're here to help in regards to your satellite issue!
What show appears on channel 5?
Is it a local channel?
Please let us know so we can better troubleshoot.

Most likely your dish needs to be aligned, there are videos on youtube if you want to try it yourself otherwise call/chat for a tech $99 covered if you have the protection plan.

Channel 5 is the local CBS outlet. We can switch to channel 6 (Tulsa, OK) and get the same CBS evening news - it's just that their weather etc. is for Tulsa and not NWA-NEO.

The installer was here a couple of weeks ago to replace our malfunctioning DVR. When he got the replacement working he did a satellite test and said everything was in good order.

Then it appears you have a DMA(Direct Marketing Area)problem as the FCC determines what locals you get based on your zip code so you should only be getting one CBS local.

No there are places that get more than one affiliate of a network; for example frequently watched channels from another DMA.
Question for the OP, what's your zip code?

That makes no sense for two reasons: 1) our zip code is closer to Ft Smith-Fayetville region than it is to Tulsa; 2) we only lose signal for a short time some days (10 minutes to maybe 2 hours).

The FCC decided how the DMAs are drawn up and it is not based on distance from the transmitter AFAIK more like the number of people as the name implies Direct Marking.

According to the latest transponder spreadsheet you should be receiving both these stations. If you are seeing a 771 it means the signal strength is low.
What signal strength do you show on the 99s satellite, TPs 16 and 21?
