If you are referring to the DIRECTV app on an iPhone or iPad, it can only be logged out through that device. Since you say that it is no longer in your household, the best bet is to change the password for the account so that the device will need to be logged back in to gain authorization to the channels and on-demand on the app.
You can change the password online by going to directv.com, click Sign In at the top of the screen, select Account Overview, enter the current email and password of the account, once fully loaded go to the Profile section, and scroll down to change the password.
After the password is changed, all current devices and tablets being used will need to be signed in again with the new password.
